My Thoughts on Mel Gibson

I always thought that Mel Gibson was sexy. From his suicidal cop days on the Lethal Weapon series to his fun and quirky turn on What Women Want, I found his appeal… appealing. Watching movies like Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ made Mel Gibson more than just eye candy. He became that guy that you could lust over and have a decent conversation. When I discovered that he was married forever with a gaggle of children he just hit the stratosphere of man potential. He was your total package: smart, fun, hot, and a man who believes in love and family.

Then he just hit the floor.

I lost all respect for the man who had the chutzpah to make an entire movie in a dead language and kept its magic when he was pulled over drunk as a skunk and trash talking members of the Jewish faith. I couldn’t believe that Mel Gibson was an anti-Semite. It just didn’t seem real or right. His personal stock hit rock bottom… or so we thought.

It took a while for Mel to show himself around the globe again and when he did surface he was divorcing, dating, and pregnant in what seemed like mere moments in time. His new girlfriend was a radiant Russian beauty carrying his eighth baby in style. He seemed renewed. I no longer respected him but – I have to admit – it was kind of nice to see him happy again…. even if I wanted to throw something at him.

Now Mel is back with new issues. It seems like party is over and the love is gone. Mel was recorded saying some horrendous things to his girlfriend – the mother of his infant child. Not just horrendous things but truly hateful and awful things that I don’t ever see someone saying to a person with whom they once loved and is the mother of their child. Wishing rape on someone is inexcuseable and hoping that it happens from a “pack of N**gers” is even worse. He went from being an asshole boyfriend to a racist asshole boyfriend in one word. His agent has dropped him, the bloggers are vilifying him, and the baby mama drama has just begun.

What do I think now? I think that people really show themselves when they’re drunk and when they’re angry. I think the real Mel Gibson has shown up and I couldn’t be more disappointed.
